    Default Our new house

So, we moved on Thursday last week.

It was very emotional leading up to it. DD had a beautiful send off from school and many of them were in big floods of tears at the school gate at the end of the day. Even DH had a little cry at seeing all the emotion.

Anyway, we have had emotional moments on and off since, but we really love our new house and the area. We still have boxes everywhere but are slowly getting there.

DD has a settling in session tomorrow at her new school, so I guess that will drag up a load of emotions and make the move seem 'real' - at the moment it kind of feels like we are on a little holiday.

We have met two sets of neighbours. The lady next door is lovely. She is a retired primary school teacher. The gentleman opposite is also lovely, but talks for Britain, so we are avoiding him, lol.

Hope you are all well. x

I'm so pleased to hear from you. I have been thinking about you all weekend!

Glad it went well, and hope the settling session at school isn't too emotional for you all.

8 yrs on and we still have a couple of boxes in the loft!!! I know they say ... if you haven't needed it in 12 mths, chuck it ... but it's old childminding paperwork and other stuff! Probably could go through it ... maybe one day!!!

    Thanks Loocyloo.

So many people have told me that they still have unopened boxes several years later!

Honestly, looking at everything I do not know how we managed to fit it all in to a two bedroom flat! Having said that, the flat had amazing storage in every room and this house has hardly any built in storage.

Maza - glad you are enjoying your new home.

How did your dd go on with her settling in session?

    Thanks for asking Fussy.

We took her yesterday for the morning. She couldn't sleep the night before and asked me to sleep with her, which I did. She was quite nervous when we dropped her off but was brave. She had a lovely day! When we collected her at 1pm we were sitting in the reception area and I heard her voice before I saw her - she was chatting animatedly to some other girls, so it was lovely to hear. Three girls were dropping her off at the office to meet us and they were so sweet - they all gave her a hug as she was leaving.

DH and I were buzzing after that and so relaxed. However, when she went to bed that night she got really upset about missing her old school. I slept with her again. I guess there will be ups and downs in the days and weeks to come.

We took her to look at a secondary school today. It was also nice. She's on half term now.

We've just ordered quite a bit of storage from ikea as it is impossible to unpack some of our stuff as there is nowhere to put it!

I'm glad to hear the move went smoothly and you're starting to settle.

It sounds as if DD will make friends quickly and I'm sure she'll soon be loving her new school.

We moved over 16 years ago and there was one box that only got unpacked a couple of years ago. It was a box of old toys so they all went straight to the charity shop as the children were all grown up by then!

    All sounds very positive Maza.
My lads went to a high school with no friends from Primary ...I worried myself silly...they both ( 6 years apart) made friends and settled easily. Children are resilient. More than we think they are.
Sounds like when she is there, with other children, she seems happy and on reflective thoughts, she worries....these are ok signs of a positive settling in process, I am sure.

    Exciting times for you all!
    Xx

Not gonna lie, other than some of the kids keepsakes, I have absolutely no idea what's in them, but know as soon as I open one I'll be like - oh THAT'S where it went and will then have to find a home for it
