Table cloths
Where is a good place to get cheap but decent table cloths? Ikea?
We have a big table. I only have fancy, plain white table cloths that I don't want to use for every day. I used to use some that someone gave me - they were too small but I didn't mind - I just used to cover the place settings where the children sat. Now that we just have older children around I want a proper fitting one!
We tend to only use them at Christmas - DD has been taught to respect our table and so we only use place mats, but I feel I need to protect the table when her friends come over for dinner.
I don't want a busy, gaudy table cloth but I want it to be practical too - not like our plain white ones. I don't want it to look like a children's table cloth either.
What do you all use?

No table cloths here- create too much laundry!

I find Next are good quality.
I like their wipe clean ones, I used one for four years of breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks too and it still looks as good as new.

I have a rectangular table in the kitchen, and use oil cloth or vinyl table cloths from Dunelm that are cut from the roll.
My current one looks like grass!
I only use it with minded children and at weekends we take it off.
Have you looked in any charity shops? My sister in law got val lovely colourful one for pennies in her local shop.

I was never a tablecloth fan , until we got a lovely new dining table!
I use the table for everything from eating to crafts to construction so wanted a thick wipe clean cover . I found an off cut of Lino just the right size which wipes , protects and rolls up at the weekend!

Thanks everyone, some great suggestions.
I did have a pvc one but got rid of it because it was too bulky to store. Might have just been that particular one, as I have some smaller ones that are not bulky.
I have plenty of table coverings for crafts. We all eat together and so I want something subtle, cosy and adult like.
I shall check out all of your suggestions. x

I am a big fan of gingham, though I like them a little dull, we have a nice off cream and mid red one from a little French craft shop we have close by. Cosy bistro feel.

I recently replaced our huge rectangle wooden table with a neat round glass table. I always used a vinyl wipeable tablecloth from John Lewis and I've continue with this new table whilst I'm working. I also bought a clear see through vinyl cloth for the bottom which is great. Then on top I've put a padded table protector then a wipeable colourful vinyl cloth for the days I work. Maybe look at the clear plastic vinyls to see if they'd suit your needs. They roll up neatly and fit behind my sofa at weekends.
