When are you all putting your Christmas tree up ?

Do you have any particular colour scheme ?

Not sure when we are putting ours up. But I let the children decorate ours.

TODAY!!!! can't wait :-) I have 2 trees one in the lounge which is my colour coordinated (red and white again this yr) tree decorated by me. The second tree goes in this playroom and is decorated by the children and they can put whatever they choose on it in whatever fashion they want :-) this is also my first Christmas minding so I'm also going to put mindees and my own childrens creations (drawings, homemade baubles etc) all around the playroom, as you can tell I'm very excited :-D

We have 2 trees. The one in the lounge will be white with tasteful silver and blue decorations. The one in the playroom will be green with all the bright, colourful and somewhat tacky decorations

We put ours up in a couple of weeks - it is mainly gold and red but has all kinds of things lobbed onto it by the children - tacky and tasteful mixed together

Twelve days before Christmas. No theme - I like it 'blingy' like they were when I was a child - themes didn't seem to be around as much then - or was that just in our house? I'm wondering whether or not to hang chocolate ornaments on it this year. A couple of my friends had them on theirs when we were kids and I just thought it was so magical and rather posh, lol! I know if I did it though that I would eat most of them and I just don't need any more junk in my belly!

    Ours will go up tomorrow.
I like it up on Advent Sunday.
We've had real ones before but the cat destroys them, plus we are away over Christmas.
We'll put the lights on and then the children put the decorations on ... no theme as such but silver and red baubles, and wooden decorations that have been made/decorated by the children over the years. And nothing else!

Ours will go up in a few weeks. The more colourful the better, nothing matches - we have coloured lights all around every room in the house it's like living in a tacky Christmas disco!

Not putting it up until the 19th at the earliest. I decorate with help from my own children. I hope to get the outside lights up by the 08th. That's if I can find them...

This year we're putting tree up at dusk on the 19th - after my children have finished school and I have finished work for the Christmas holidays!

It will be a real tree with the mainly red/ white 'scandi' style decorations we've accumulated. I try to let the children decorate it, but the tree is almost my favourite thing about Christmas and I usually 'tweak' the decorations after they've gone to bed.

I wouldn't have any other decorations in the house personally, but my 8yr old has been making snowflakes and paperchains all day and festooning the house with them.

My 1 and 2yr old mindees have a little wooden Melissa and Doug tree with magnetic decorations to put on and take off (and it has numbers on it, Ofsted ), and also a 'tree' with branches and a basket full of various decorations to put on it.

We don't do a 'normal' tree - too many problems. Not just the obvious hazard of lo's pulling it over or tugging on the lights/decorations. We get relatives putting presents under it for the grandchildren, and then have the problem of mindees ripping them open when my back is turned, plus the intended recipients getting frustrated cos they can't open them NoOoOoOoOoWwwwwwwwwwwww

So we do an 'alternative' tree, invariably wall-mounted and less destructible. One year it was made from green crepe paper and stuck to the wall, to which the children added hand-made decorations. Last year was individual tree-shape cut-outs with pictures of each child. This year will be a more ambitious stack of gift-wrapped empty boxes, made to look like a pile of presents in the shape of a tree. Mrs B rather optimistically thinks it will stay on the wall with blu-tac, but I have the 'No Nails' ready, so we could be looking at the thing for some months to come.
