    Hi all.

    Pulled Pork

    1 lean pork joint
    250ml passata
    onion
    3tbs balsamic vinegar
    2tbs Worcester sauce
    1tps mustard powder
1-3tbls sugar (depend on how sweet you like it and how sharp your vinegar is)

    Put pork in slow cooker

Put remaining ingredients (except sugar) in a small pan and bring to the boil. Add sugar until it's how you like it.

Pour sauce over pork and cook on low for 8hrs.

When cooked remove joint and shred with two forks.

Pour over sauce (you may wish to reduce it in a pan first) and serve.

I add a bit of chilli to mine sometimes if I fancy it spicey

I serve with jackets and corn on the cob or vegetable rice

If you're on facebook, there's a page called slow cooker saddo's that has some good recipes, apple and amazon have some good freebie books to download too.

I love my slow cooker, and it's so easy to spend 15/20 mins in a morning preparing veggies and meat and then to leave it cooking all day. Plus the smell is yummy
We're having slow cooked ribs for tea tonight with jacket potatoes (oven cooked - only way to get a crispy skin )

Some things to remember - don't keep taking the lid off to check it's cooking - it will be, honest lol, removing the lid removes the steam and reduces the internal temperature so leave it be as much as you can stand to.
You don't need to add very much in the way of liquid, as steam is generated during cooking. I put none in with ribs and always end up with over an inch of liquid in the bottom.
If using veggies, put them in first, with meat then on top. The veggies add height when you don't want the meat sitting in fluid.

Enjoy getting to know your slow cooker - you'll wonder how you ever got on without it if you're anything like me lol

Ah thanks kiddleywinks. I am on fb so will check it out when im on my laptop later.

I completely get what you're saying about jackets. Im having those tonight with either tuna, beans or cheese. I'm kinda cheating though as i have 3 extra for dinner as an ad hoc.

I am looking forward to no stress meals when im busy. Oh and i love a challenge too :-)

Try this - it's an instruction manual with lots of lovely recipes towards the back. I made the minestrone soup last week and the children loved it! Today, I'm making the lentil soup (we're having an orange week this week).

    Enjoy,
