We replaced all our doors and windows last year and got quotes from all the established firms aswell as some local, work on your own, folk.
We went with a local recommended man who gave us good service, quality doors and was cheaper than big firms. We continually get emails and phone calls from the national firms.

Ask around, I am sure someone knows someone who gives good service, probably will do it after LO's have gone home or won't charge weekend rates for Sat/ Sun too.

Local all the way for me, keep self employed people in business!

Tip: the range of doors you can get now is daunting! I spent one day walking out locally just looking at everyone's front door - it was a good way to decide what I liked and didn't like - the biggest showroom ever!

Did try a local firm but they have stopped doing UPVC doors and I don't want a wooden one again. I am hoping to get it done on a Friday. May look at some front doors on school run tomorrow though more or less know what I would like.

I've just order a composite door. They look much better than upvc and I can have a normal Yale lock and a bottom lock- no handle to open the door. (A pet hate)

I used a local but recommended window/door man. Much cheaper than the 'big' companies.

When we need new woodwork. I saw a house having similar when out for a walk with little ones. They had a board outside so took their number. Local tradesman, good price great work. Go local if you can.
