    Thanks everyone, we're fine.
We got as much up stairs as we could but had to leave the large furniture downstairs (narrow victorian staircase).
The whole of the downstairs is under water, up to the top of our thighs.
They are still releasing the flood barriers on & off so they don't think the water will go down for a few days yet.
We are going to try to go back to the house on Friday to collect some more clothes.
We are staying with my sister for a few days then a friend is lending us their flat until March/April (they live in Singapore and just use the flat when over here visiting).
Hopefully by then we can go back to the house, even if we have to live upstairs for a while.
We managed to get my car out but we don't know if hubby's car is ok (parked it further up the road and can't now get to it).
Thanks for all your kind words, it's a big mess but nothing that can't be fixed with time and hard work xxx

So sorry to read this - it happened in the town i lived in 2000 and took a while to get back to normal. My house just missed it, we were lucky as 100s were not so lucky Hope you managed to save most precious things - we started moving things upstairs and decided the only non replaceable things were photos, inherited items and ourselves!

So many people in the same boat (so to speak) hope your locals pull together as they did for my town x
Happy to be back with the Greenies

Oh dear that looks dreadful. On a practical note will you be able to carry on childminding? Is there anything we can do to help you?

We've been told today that the water has gone down enough for us to get into the house, so tomorrow we are off to see the extent of the damage. Xx
