good advice
How many people do you know who say they don't want to drink anything before going to bed because they'll have to get up during the night!
I asked my Doctor why do people need to urinate so much at night time.
Answer -
Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell).
When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) is level with the kidneys, it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier.
I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me.
Correct time to drink water... Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist! Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs 1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion 1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure 1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack I can also add to this... My doctor told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps.
Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up.

Very interesting.
I am guilty of not drinking much, if any water. I drink lots of fluids but mainly tea and coffee, which I drink loads of, with the occasional fruit juice but hardly ever drink just water. I really need to change this.

But how does drinking a glass of water before bed stop you needing to pee in the middle of the night?! I am terrible for this but take a glass
Of water to bed and often drink in the night, I don't think I drink enough during the day and then get thirsty
Thanks for the info!

I had my annual mot/medical a couple of weeks ago - as expected the general prognosis us I am old and fat!! However - the nurse who did all my tests said the most shocking result was my dehydration level. Every niggle I brought up came down to my dehydration level so I came home determined to change that - above all she assured me that if I continued my current food intake and drank 2 litres of water a day then I would lose 2lbs a week. Early days still but I do feel a lot better for it! She also warned me that for 4 weeks I will be peeing for Scotland but after that other will settle down! I now have a half litre water bottle and time targets to have drunk it by!! If nothing else its worth a try for the weight loss!!! however I should really take out shares in Andrex!!!

This is my problem too. I could happily have 4 cups of tea in a day but you're lucky if I have 2 pints of water. When I first started my weight loss I tried to drink more and did manage it but then just lapsed again which is probably why my weight loss has slowed down so really need to get back into it. Just been and made myself a cup of tea and got a glass of water too this is the first drink I've had all day though!!

I used to boil the kettle several times a day but get distracted so by the end of the day I wouldn't have had anything or else I'd just collect the undrunk cups from all their high safe places!! i think I could go fir days without water! here's a thought - maybe my belly is my "camel hump"!!!

I'm with you, very rarely do I drink water. I'm always gulping down cups of tea and I'm terrible for drinking fizzy pop (I knows it's SO bad but I have no willpower!!)
Very interesting to know not only to drink more water but when to. Think I'm going to put myself on a fizzy drink ban and go with this water thing

This made me think about my water intake. I will try to drink / litres of water a day from now on. I will probably feel a lot healthier.
