Default Internet virus protection...what do you have?

My virus protection is up for renewal & I'm looking to change.

I want something easy to install & easy to run. I want it to do all the thinking for me!

    What would you recommend?

I use mcafee...costs about £15 and is an immediate download which is easy.
Also these ones are free and very good...
    AVG - http://free.avg.com/gb-en/homepage
    AVIRA - http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus
    AVAST - http://www.avast.com/index

The free ones don't give you antispam or firewall protection however I've never had a problem when using a free one...my preference would be AVIRA

    Hope that helps

We have avg free on our computers - it didn't save us a few years ago when a teenager went onto a file sharing site and downloaded something nasty - but apart from that it's great

I use McAfee mainly because it is a all singing all dancing package, that i get for £3 per month by subscribing through my Sky account. It is allowed to be used on multiple devices so i have 3 devices using the protection for the £3, plus because it is on a rolling subscription it is constantly updating to the latest editions without me having to buy more packages.

I have Eset - £25 for 2 years, Malwarebyes and spyware (last two are free) I run the Scans everyday when the laptop is shut down - and I have learnt the hard way that its the regularity of the scanning that makes the difference x I also store all my files on a cloud x so if my system fails all files are backed up remotely x (and I hate to say it but the free stuff is not good enough to protect alone) x

I use AVG Free on the recommendation of a friend who worked on systems analysis for a big company (now freelance).

He always says that no anti-virus package is foolproof because it's the fool holding the mouse who is the biggest threat to the computer.

(i.e. The user's knowledge, common sense and discipline will do more to protect a system than software ever will.)
