I'm with you Angel I don't like them and I'm rubbish at cooking them.

As its Pancake Day we will have a go but I won't be eating any!

Bah Humbug or Bah Pancakes would be more appropriate I suppose

We've made a jug of batter and put it in the fridge for later. I would like a hot apple & orange filling in mine but the lo's all insist on choc spread

I don't mind savoury cheesy ones too but mostly it's a sweet one here

My DD, 4 asked if we could get the Pancake Day decorations out last night, bless her. She thought we would decorate like we do for Christmas and Valentines day etc. We had to make some cardboard pancakes and decorate them, so we've got them hanging all around the house!

I am traditional and love lemon and sugar. Hubby likes banana and maple syrup, DD likes chocolate spread. I also like savoury ones. I'll make a batch and freeze whatever we don't eat. x

A couple of years ago I decided that because I could never remember the recipe for pancakes and always ended up having to look it up, every day would become pancake day.

    Here's the recipe:

    4oz plain flour
    300ml milk or milk/water mix
    1 egg.
Whisk and pour into frying pan

This is why I get so many of my mindees asking for pancakes at breakfast time!

We like maple syrup or lemon juice and sugar, but we might have to dig out the ice-cream tonight too.

Any ideas for savoury pancakes would be good, if anybody has some.

I've had requests for one lemon, one with blueberries and ice cream and one with strawberries and chocolate spread from mindees and my daughter. For me it has to be raspberry jam and sugar They have also all requested me to flip them onto the ceiling like Daddy Pig

My husband makes the pancakes in our house, mine are always too soggy and give me heartburn! We just go for good old fashioned sugar and lemon and some sultanas in the pancakes. Mindees have just had scotch pancakes out of a packet for snack - we did pretend they were real ones and tossed them in frying pan singing poem by Christini Rossetti -

    Mix a pancake
    Stir a pancake
    Pop it in a pan
    Fry a pancake
    Toss a pancake
    Catch it if you can

and I have made a colouring sheet for them to do with poem on it to share with parents

    we're having them for tea

haven't decided yet, either with tuna in white sauce, and then baked with a little more sauce & grated cheece on them.
or with cooked chicken in a white sauce or chopped ham in a cheese sauce.

one year i made thick pancakes with sweetcorn actually within the pancake! they were yummy.

then for pud we'll have pancakes with jam, lemon, honey, syrup, chocolate, sugar and knowing DS - he'll have everything at the same time!

i'm going to make several batches this afternoon and then heat them up when we need them! much quicker! although we will also all have a try at tossing one too.

We had stewed apple, ice cream and a selection of sweet sauces. I got the children to chop the apples and mix the batter which is not as precise as above. Our recipe is 4 large heaped spoons of flour, 2 eggs and as much milk as it takes to make the batter the correct consistency. I merely cooked

For me it has to be sugar and lemon. Others here had chocolate spread and strawberries, or ice cream. Only one mindee asked for cheese

We were going to do them for the kids for dessert, but with me and dh both being ill, they all just had the toppings instead. Icecream, fresh fruit, syrups, marshmallows and sprinkles.
When I have them I just like sugar and lemon too.
We have officially delayed our pancake day till next tuesday here.
