Default My ds wont pooh! (at all)

im really worried about my ds, he is 3.5 years old and was toilet trained just before he was 3, he is really good with his wees but he has never done a pooh on the potty or the toilet, we have NEVER put any pressure on him bur have recently suggested that he starts doing it on the toilet or potty, the problem is he has now stopped going at all, its been 5 days since he has been and has tummy ache and wont eat any more, i am going to take him to the docs tomorrow, has anyone come across this before,

Could have had a sharp painful poo and be scared... Lots of liquid and fruit (dried as well if he'll take it)
    Doc can prescribe stool softener

Maybe a sharp painful poo has scared him. Lots of water and fruit (incl dried - ie apricots) will help. Two different issues I think - needing to poo in a nappy still and not pooing at all
Doc can prescribe stool softener and give advice

My DS would do this and I had to put a nappy on him so he would go, or he would hold on for days. Actually i know of a couple of parents whos kids were like this. Have you tried putting a nappy in the potty ? Its just a slowly slowly realisation that its ok to go. Remember everything is a phase, in a few months it will be something different.

when my dd was potty training she was holding it and then when I put a nappy on at night she would go, sounds like he has bunged himself up.....Syrup of figs from the chemist, hummus and lots of veg and pulses, lots of water.....but may need a trip to the docs after 5 days

It's really common - and especially in boys for some reason. They are scared to let it go - or they've had a painful experience.

There are specialist poo nurses who will be able to help - nappy in the potty helps a lot of children get used to the feeling.

He'll get the hang of it soon and you'll have girls and smoking to worry about

    Hugs xx

One of my 6 year old twins still holds his poo in :-((((,

We have had such trouble & it's really common in boys,

He takes lactulose now which helps, but we still find him hiding , holding it in, we make him sit on the loo after day after school now,

His identical twin brother has never had a prob

Tummy massage & lay him on floor & kinda push his legs up to tummy in sort of a bicycle movement to get poo moving, also syrup of fig might work if you don't want to go down the laxative route

    Hope he goes soon xx
