Think a Cobb salad is American. We certainly had one when we went to Florida and it was served like a volcano shape on the plate.

We eat something we call 'American salad' as it's similar to a salad we had when visiting the states.

    Lettuce
    Cucumber
    tomatoes
    green pepper
    grated carrot
    grated cheese

All chopped up very small and mixed with salad cream. Sprinkle crispy bacon on top ( or the soya bacon flavoured bits if veggie )

My son did these for his GCSE food tech on american foods

1 small head red cabbage, shredded
    1 large carrot, grated
1 medium Wisconsin red apple, cored and chopped
Juice from (at least) half a Key lime
    25 white seedless grapes, sliced
    1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
3/4 cup raisins (golden raisins look best, but I prefer regular for taste)
    1/2 sweet white onion, chopped
    4 tablespoon mayonnaise
    Directions
In the order listed, add all ingredients to a large bowl. Stir well after adding lime juice, and at the end.

    Cobb Salad Recipe

    1/2 head of romaine
    1/2 head of Boston lettuce
1 small bunch of frisée (curly endive)
1/2 bunch of watercress, coarse stems discarded All lettuces should be rinsed, spun or patted dry, and coarsely chopped
    6 slices of bacon
2 ripe avocados, seed removed, peeled, and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 whole skinless boneless chicken breast (about 3/4 pound total), halved, cooked, and diced
1 tomato, seeded and chopped fine
2 hard-boiled large eggs, separated, the yolk finely chopped and the white finely chopped
    2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
    1/3 cup red-wine vinegar
    1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
    1-2 teaspoons sugar
    Salt and pepper
    2/3 cup olive oil
    1/2 cup finely grated Roquefort

    METHOD
1 Cook the bacon in a skillet on medium heat until crisp on both sides. Remove from skillet and lay out on paper towels to absorb the excess fat. Allow the bacon to cool. Crumble the bacon and set aside.
2 In a large salad bowl, toss together well the various lettuces and watercress.
3 Compose the salad. Arrange the chicken, the bacon, the tomato, and the avocado decoratively over the greens and garnish the salad with the grated egg and the chives.
4 In a small bowl whisk together the vinegar, the mustard, and salt and pepper to taste, add the oil in a slow stream, whisking, and whisk the dressing until it is emulsified. Stir in the Roquefort. Add sugar to taste, 1/2 teaspoon at a time. Whisk the dressing. Serve separately or toss in with the salad.

    7 layer salad

    • 6 cups chopped lettuce
    •salt and pepper
    •6 hard-cooked eggs, sliced
    •2 cups frozen peas, thawed
•8 to 16 ounces bacon, crisp-cooked, drained, and crumbled
•2 cups (8 ounces) shredded mild Cheddar cheese
    •1 cup mayonnaise
    •1 to 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 1/4 cup sliced green onion with tops
    •paprika

    Preparation:

Place 3 cups of the lettuce in bottom of large bowl; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Layer egg slices over lettuce in bowl and sprinkle with more salt and pepper. Continue to layer vegetables in this order: peas, remaining lettuce, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheese, along with light sprinklings of salt and pepper. Combine mayonnaise and sugar; spread over top, spreading to edge of bowl to cover entire salad. Cover and chill 24 hours or overnight. Garnish with green onion and a little paprika. Toss before serving.
This salad serves 12 to 15.
