Default Doing a Kim and Aggie

DS1 is going back to uni soon, so this weekend he and I are driving up to his term time house to give it a spring clean. It is an hour and a half drive away and the other two lads he shares with live more than five hours away. As it has been shut up since June, except for landlord doing maintenance, it will be pretty musty. We are going to do the whole house, bar the other lads own rooms and DS is going to treat me to a meal out on the way home.

Am I a bit odd/sad to be looking foward to this? Does any other parents do this for their grown up children?
Why hasn't Gary Barlow come to my rescue yet?

I've done it for/with both of mine both when they moved in and moved out of each place, and with 4 years each at university followed by a few years in rented houses that's plenty of moves. I love a big clear out and clean, and they appreciate it so much.

I would do it, but then I do my sons room every week even though he is 25, and suppose to do it himself, If i didn't i he wouldn't be able to open the door after a few weeks

Hubby's driving son back to Uni tomorrow with all his things.

There's no room for me in the car, cos Toby wants to take his bike down. So that let's me off the hook for cleaning

They are never bothered about cleaning the house but I love the times of moving them in and out with all their stuff and bringing them back for the vacations. It is my special time with them which I really miss now two have graduated.

If only mine would move out! I must make life too comfortable here as my ds travels to uni daily.

I did too, I helped my son move out of his house in June and while I did his bedroom he did the bathrooms , I hoovered the place but we left the kitchen to the other residents can't imagine it got down but I know we did enough for him to get his deposit back

Now that I don't do. If they want their laundry done they bring it down. If for any reason need to go into their rooms I shut my eyes and try hard not to notice the mess

I took my son back to Uni today and moved him into his shared house ( last year he was in halls)
It's nice to see where they'll spend their time and to see them settled although I know I'll miss him

We arrived at 9.30am and left at 6.00pm. The lads had made an effort when they left for the summer but they don't notice the corners. I don't think the landlord has been there over the summer as there are three foot high weeds in the front and back yards. The furniture can't have been moved for years as there was a thick layer of cobewbs under everything .

Still it is nice knowing that when they return on the 23rd the house will be clean and fresh although I am sure it will soon look like a student house again in no time.

DS bought me supper on the way home and I really enjoyed spending the whole day with him. When we were nearly home DS secretly text DH and there was a lovely bath run for me with my favorite lush bath bar and a glass of wine when I got home.
Why hasn't Gary Barlow come to my rescue yet?
