I keep my house one in the hall cupboard - on a shelf on its own. With the bodily spillages items. I have a tiny green 'first aid kept here' notice on the top part of the door - not sure why, as DH and I both know it is there - it must have been advised though or I wouldn't have done it! In fact when I get home I might take this notice down now I've thought about it.
Mine is on top of the medicine cupboard in the cloakroom. There is no specific place it 'should' be- just easy to get to in case of emergency- you might want two if you have a big house, use 2 floors a lot or have an awkward layout house.
One permanently at the setting, on top of my dresser.
A smaller one with the pushchair for going out.
I bought a new complete box at my last 1st aid course and it came with a handy plastic wall mount that it slides into. So mine is mounted to the wall, at my eye level height, near the toys. Also got a small one for out and about with a wrist strap on it.
I keep mine in the kitchen, I still need to get my emergency "out and about" one - oops!!
I keep mine in the hallway, was told to keep it so older kids can reach it for you if needed in an emergency so it's on the window sill and they'd need to reach over a chest so little ones can't get to it easily
