    Smile Adult Child Ratios

Hi I have 2 children and plan to childmind from September. My son will be starting school in September this year and will be 5 in November. My daughter will be over 1 in September. Do you know how many children Ofsted will permit me for under 5s?
    Thanks very much.

It depends on the space in your house but usually its

3 under 5 yrs (which include 4yr old in full time school)
    3 between 5-8 years

These will include your own so you could possibly have

    2 under 5yrs
    2 between 5-8 years

obviously depending on your available space in the house.

I have a fairly smallish house, but have a massive garden. I have two children aged 6 and 3. My cert says I can have 2 under 5 (1 of which can be under 1) and 2 under 8.

    Over 8's dont count.

I am not 100% sure but if you get your cert BEFORE your son is at school it may say one 1 in EY and 3 over. You may need to call them once he actually starts so it can be changed...

It would depend on planning rules in your area. A 10 year old would not affect your OFSTED numbers as they are over 8 but some areas (like mine) have restrictions on total numbers of children cared for so I can only have 6 mindees of any age.
