Start up Grant!

Hello? Me again!

Just wanting to ask about details of a start up grant?

I am going back to work for three months January 18th to pay back my maternity leave. This is also great for me as I can see everyone before I give in my notice and I will have some money to pay for childminding expenses.

I wasn't sure about applying for a grant? Is it means tested, as my husband is earning a good wage?

I am going to need to buy some outdoor equipment and expenses to get started.

Some areas have grants, some areas do not, some areas are losing theirs with the Govt cuts.

You need to speak to your local people and find out exactly what is on offer.

My Local Authority don't have a grant - but they do pay for some things:

• the NCMA membership for 12mths
  loads of free courses including food hygiene
  first aid course
  ofsted registration

Its not wonderful - but its far better than nothing !!

My LA are really supportive and will offer advise and suggestions when required. I think I will be using them a lot soon, as I've just registered !
