Health Declararion £100!!!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let off some steam. I went to my doctors to give in my health declararion forms today. I was told the charge would be between £50-£100 and they would speak to the pratice manager and let me know. I had my fingers crossed it would be £50 which i still think is alot but they have just phoned and told me it will be £100!! i asked to speak to the practice manager but she basically told me thats what the charge will be and tough luck. I even phoned Ofsted to see if they could advise me if there was anything i could do but there isnt . I am really cross £100 for something that will take 10 mins to fill in.

Daylight robbery! Not sure what you can do though. I think I might be tempted to make an appointment with my GP and ask how they justify charging so much - not sure it would get you anywhere though

I remember getting mine done a couple of years ago, they were soooo apologetic there was a fee - and it was £5.00

Could you try making a gp appt and ask them to do it there and then?

I was told it would be £75. When I queried it, they decided it was actually only £30 because I didn't need a physical examination.
Have you explained that most of the form is completed by yorself and you don't need a full medical?

Mine was £100.23 !!!!!!!!
Ridiculous amount of money. I explained to them as well, they said the fee was set by the doctors and tough luck really. OOh I still get wound up by this one They then took 8 weeks to fill it in and send it off!

Dh registered fairly recently and his was £30.

Which OFSTED promptly lost and we had to get another one done and pay another £30.

If I were you and paying £100 I would ask your practise not to post to OFSTED but collect it yourself and send it registered post.

Wow, mine was £44.30 and i thought that was alot. Bless your heart!

It's crazy each Doctor can set their own fee I paid £30.00 and they don't have to do a lot for it either.

Thank you so much for all replying. I really tried to get them to reduce it but whatever i said the pratice manager had a reply for. I sensed they have had this arguement before! Just hope now that they dont take forever to get it done, she did tell me the doctor normally does all his paperwork within 2 weeks, so fingers crossed.

You poor thing. I got mine done a couple of weeks ago and my doctors charged me £20 and they did it over night for me to collect the next day.

By the sounds of it I was very lucky!

I did mine Aug/Sep this year and it was £10 make sure they know you do not need a physical as they initially said it would be £50 and I made an app with my doctor

£100 a LOT of money - don't they realise that most new childminders are starting out with no job at all!!!!!!!!!

Ours chanrge £120 & that was months ago - it's probably £150 by now!

mine was £7.25 was told it would be £50 so when she said how much i paid and didnt ask.... think £100 is taking the................

Oh my god that is disgusting, You have to get it done and expect to get charged but thats extreme.

My Doc took nearly 3 months to do mine i complained and wrote a letter and they did not charge me. I am lucky though i do have a great Dr old fashioned and does not agree with charging patients for doing their job.
