I am too organised! I am booked on the courses just missed one so am not starting til september but I have decided to get ahead with the planning of activites until then, and we have a lot of work to do on the house so I wanted to get going, having young ens of my own I already had a lot of stuff. I have decided to go for a "year a,b,c" planning system so that its not the same stuff each year and so i need to do a lot of planning and also have some activites lined up to cater to the individual interests of any children I might get. I just want to do the best job I can really! I don't want to have overlooked anything, I need to do a doctors form as well don't I?

I am roaring ahead with you hun lol

Course not till end of June though hehe

Been getting bits together for ages - just wondered if anyone knows...

should i keep all the receipts for everything i have got so far and start doing my books for tax purposes even though i don't currently have any income from it?

I've bought £250 worth of timber to child proof my garden - should i put this through and should i take before and after pics just in case to prove it was for childrens safety that i had to do it?

SOrry for all the questions and semi hijacking this thread!

im doing my course at present and getting bits and pieces as i go, keeping all receipts as it can all be classed as start up costs, think ive done most of my policies and permission forms etc, just trying to get the house sorted, mainly outside as we have a pond and our front garden hasnt got fencing on one part

trying to find the money for bits is taking its time but doing it bitby bit hoping to be ready for september

hubby and i recently bought a laptop each so we have got rid of the main computer in our "office" (room under the stairs lol)
we can then use this room for storage, stick up laods of shelves etc so hoping this will fit all the bits in
    my hubbys words
" dont want the house taken over"
if he moved out id have loads of room lol

graceycakes i shouldnt worry about before and after photos if they query it they can see what you would have done with it

so exciting isnt it, my lil girl keeps saying all her friends ahve babies (litle brothers and sisters) why cant she have one.....so ive told her when mummy starts working hopefully we have lots of children to play with ...fingers cossed eh

Yes Graceycakes, keep all your receipts.. you will need them for your tax return next April.

Chocolateteapot be careful how much you spend! You don't know what the ages of children you take on will be yet...

Write wish lists by all means, but beware buying loads of equipment before you have enquiries.

Good luck with it all! Let us know how you get on

Yep watch your spending.Get the basics. What we do then is once contract signed do a shopping list for what that child needs according to their age and abilities inc toys.Join a toy Library too. When we started we used parents pushchairs and car seats until our numbers grew.Ikea high chairs are fantastic and Tesco do cot beds for £20.Set a budget !!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, buy the basic's and then build up once you have mindee's.
I found when I first started I had loads of stuff for the under 5's, but most of the mindee's I signed up were after schoolers, so had to go out and buy more resourses for their age group.

HTH & good luck to everyone starting out.
