Default Do I have to put safety glass film on every door panel?

Hello, me again! I'm just in the process of preparing for my pre-reg visit but this safety glass film is driving me mad I have a 15 glass panel door to the living room and have done the bottom half with film but do I have to do the whole door? I can just see I'm gonna spend the next 12 months trying to get the air bubbles out

Count yourself lucky...I have 3 x 15 panel doors...I did all the panels...if you get a LO who throws something then the bottom half would not surfice...always better to be safe than sorry.

LOL that takes me back to the day we moved house!

there was a wonderful 15 panel glass/wooden door on the lounge, my kiddies were 2 and 3 youngest being a toy thrower so the door was removed and left outside over night. the neighbour knocked to welcome us with flowers and a bottle yay then asked if they could have the door hee hee, we still have no door there but if we did then I would cover every single panel.

It's a long time since I have used the stuff. Do you have to fit on both sides of the glass or just one side?

Done it Once I stopped moaning and got on with it, it wasn't that bad.

The glass in my door has a pattern on so I could only use the film on the non-patterned side. I hate the door too - my living room is a bit old fashioned cos we haven't redecorated it yet after moving in 2 years ago and I don't fancy replacing doors, etc until I actually get round to decorating it.

    sounds just like me!

we have been here almost 5 years now and said we would replace the carpet and the door asap!

the carpet was going to be replaced this easter but taken a little one on who will be potty training soon so put it off again until she is dry. the blue carpet kinda blends in now lol ... its only when newcomers come into my home that I realise it just doenst match the rest of the room but still ... glad you got the door done now!

I know what you mean about the carpet. My husband keeps nagging me that he wants to at least replace the patterned carpet and I am putting it off cos I think whats the point in paying for new carpet when I'll have toddlers (including my own daughter) doing their business all over it. Patterned carpet hides a multitude of sins

I would have thought you'd need to do the whole lot! We have a big floor to ceiling window next to our front door and had to get it safety filmed - didn't attempt it ourselves though! Got a professional to do it and the local early years paid for it

Gosh how old is the door?

When I had Ofsted out I put a large piece of thick cardboard on the doors which I was able to remove at night.

I have a 15 paned front room door and was told (last month) to just safety film the bottom 2 rows of glass panels (6 squares) I did one side - the plain side and the patterned glass hides all the air bubbles

You only have to put film on if the door isn't safety glass. The regulations for safety glass have now been in for a long time (at least 15 years) and there is a small monogram on your doors and windows to prove this. Patio doors are safe without the film.
