I gave Ofsted a reference from a parent I used to childmind (when I was previously registered) and one from my friend who is a police officer and they were fine with that.

When I registered first time in 2004 I asked two friends who knew me well to give character references and Ofsted were fine with that aswell.

You could give your pastor/priest, someone you worked with - as character refs too.

I sent a refernace from a friend off with my application, then gave my boss's details for them to write to.

they sent both a qestionaire that has to be completed, my boss can't do a character referance and my HR dept will only sen out a standard referance letter , so I have given details of another friend to write to.
