Your registration certificate will show the number of children you can look after in each age group excluding your own children.

A childminder can usually look after 6 children under the age of 8...

Of these 3 children can usually be under 3... and 1 under 1.

So, if you have a baby of your own, that's your under 1 space taken and your certificate will tell you that.

If you have a toddler, you can take on a baby, but you will lose an under 5 space on your certificate.

    Does that make sense?

I think it is 6 under 8 but if your own are under 8 they will be taken off prior to your certificate being sent.
