Lightbulb Staring up as a childminder

    Hello Everyone :-)

I am currently a nanny and looking onto becoming a childminder when this position finishes.

What do I need to expect?
I'm level 3 qualified and own my own home. I have an open livingroom/dining room is there any room requirements? I also have two cats that at the moment are indoor cats what is advice for them?

I am ofsted registered for nannying at the moment just wondered what the fees are for the childminding.
Is there any mandatory training I will need?

Any help on the setting up process would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you
    Laura x

The should help. There's plenty to do before you are registered and will have to do a local authority course.

    This may help

Depending how much you've done you have to do a local authority course (usually pacey) get a dbs check for every adult in the house, do a first aid course, have a health check done, register with ofsted, have an inspection & then you can start once you have your certificate. I'm currently in the process & for checks, the course, subscriptions etc I've been advised to expect about a £500 outlay & that's without toys/amenities etc.

It can take up to 6mths from your course to get registered if you do it all at once, I've had to wait 2mrhs just for the information evening with my local la never mind the course itself, there's lots of advice on here to help with what you'll need.

    Good luck x
