Default How does the 2 year old funding work

    Hi everyone

My certificate arrived yesterday, really quick I think.

I would like some advice on the 2 year old funding please. Is it available for newly registered childminders or do I have to wait until my first grading visit? Would love to hand in my notice to finish for Easter and already have two parents wanting their children to come to me who are eligible for the funding but not sure how it works. I have read up a bit on it and if I'm reading it right you have to be GOOD or OUTSTANDING.

    Thanks

You can offer the funding before your 1st inspection, or at least in my area you can.
The only problem with this is if you don't then get good or outstanding on your 1st inspection you would have to stop offering the funded places and lose the children you had claiming it!

I registered in December and have just been accepted to take 2, 3 & 4 year old funding, I think on grading I do have to hope for a good or above though :-/ xx

That's not necessarily true. Our LA looks at keeping the children with the setting (whether it's cm or nursery), so works with them to ensure there is improvement in the care/learning they provide.

All local authorities are different so you need to get in touch with your own and ask them
