Free fruit and veg for childminders

I have limited knowledge on this so forgive me. Am I right that schools get free fruit and veg to give children in the early years age range? I wondered whether this extends to childminders? I'm aware of the free milk allowance and have taken this up already. TIA

Gosh that would be lovely for child minders to get free fruit and veg but I have not heard of that happening. Why not though it makes sense!

I've also not heard of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true!
Contact your local council and ask for more info, I'm sure they'd know as it might differ in different areas xx

Our local school buys the fruit and veg from the local food co-op. Parents are charged £1 a week for snacks. (but the snacks are not just fruit - can be anything)

There is a scheme for free fruit for ks1 and reception children. Every child gets 1 piece per day and I asked of childminders were able to take part and the answer was a resounding NO.
It's a government scheme and it's aimed at schools only.

In my council only schools get it for children in reception, yr1 and yr2, preschools and nurseries don't even get it so no way childminders would!

I am sure I read that instead of milk, you could get fruit.
