    Default Advice please

    Hi all,

Any advice would be really welcome!

I am just in the process of registering - I have completed and passed my homebased childcare service course, completed paediatric first aid and safeguarding etc and submitted my ofsted application. I am waiting to hear back from ofsted for my pre-reg visit etc. I haven't yet received the medical check form. I am imagining it could still be a while until I am registered.

A local childminder has recently stopped her service and I have been getting some enquiries as to my availability. I know I cannot start minding until I am registered, but a couple of the parents enquiring I am reasonable friendly with and are expressing their desperation! Is there any way that I can help them out? Can I have their little ones free of charge until I am registered - or can I class it as babysitting. I really don't want to do anything I shouldn't, and don't want to put any of us in a compromising situation, but would really like to be able to take some of these children on - and it would mean I can get my places filled for when I am registered.

I am going to give ofsted a ring in Monday to chat with them, but wondered if there was any advice from those in the know in the meantime.

    Thanks for any comments.

You can look after them in there own homes or one of their homes if the parents don't mind and then you are classed as a nanny and don't have to be registered.

Just what I was about to say. Do the child care in their home as a nanny and you can be paid for it.
I wouldn't ask Ofsted. They will not advise you on how to do childcare before you are registered.

Thanks so much for your help. I'll have a chat to the parents in question.
