Default Do the CSSIW do spot checks?

    Hi All

Just chatting to a childminder from my area who said the CSSIW do spot checks (unannounced visits).

    I was unaware of this?

    Thanks

They say they can - but I have never had one in 5 yrs of minding. When we have our inspections they are unannounced. You have to send in your SAS form and then you know they will visit within the next 3 months

    Agree with Polly

CSSIW can arrive and visit at any time - we are not allowed to refuse them entry! However they are sooooo busy they rarely do them any more unless they have a reason. I have never had them other than the inspection visits but 2 minders that have been here longer have said that the inspectors used to call in for a cup of tea and chat if they were in the area.
