    Default Hello - From YORK!

Well here in York and having a great time. We did the bus tour, had lunch in Bella Italia

Spent loads - some really good bargains - plus I spent £100 on - A HANDBAG - never done that it my life spent so much on myself and especially not on a handbag.

For mindees Carol and I have gone halves on a lightbox (large one £60) and I have also brought - talking tubes £9, a whole of those things that have gel in and the blobs move down the tube £37 the lot - (10 of them ) some great wooden dinosaurs £5 each, some signing books from Child's Play (1 large and 4 small £15) 3 large magnifying frames £1.50 each, some coloured plastic bits to use on the light box, a texture puzzle thing £3, and a great set of wooden objects £9. Really pleased with my bargains.

Carol M is now asleep and I am on forum.

Have seen Manjay - (looking very smart), Debbies26, Playmate, Blue Boy and Building Blocks is here too. Not seen Christine E - yet.

Other ma be here but either not seen them - or may have walked passed them as not sure what they look like

Donkey - once I have mastered sharing - you may borrow them from me - but for now as my little mindees say [MINE, MINE, MINE'

I am not sure Carol M knows that I am not very good at sharing - yet - but she will when she thinks it is her turn to have light box - but I won't share

I am very jealous, I would love a light box (yes, I know it's sad) and that sounds like a great bargain!

    Have a lovely time today.

Just in from a packed day.
Heard Manjay do her speech - as the saying goes she scubs up well
Great keynote speech from Tayna Byron
    interested strategic plans from NCMA
Carol and I both dis same fun workshop this morning on gender - although did not learn anything
Lunch was late -as over ran this morning - so yes I did hypo - Carol looked after me well

Great opportunity to talk to Chief Excutives of NCMA about plans to widen membership. Felt they listen notes were taken.

My afternoon work shop was disappointing as was supposed to be on revised EYFS - but as government now delayed this - was really only about old EYFS. Carols workshop on Maths was better and a few ideas gained - but she felt was at a fairly basic level.

Then into main hall - where our forum friends were speaking - all did extremely well And DebbieS26 spoke during debate making a valid point.

    All resolutions were passed.

And then best bit I won a prize in the main raffle - 4 fantastic WOW toy sets.

We are now chilling for a couple of hours before the dinner dance - and will see if Blueboy honours his offer of a dance

But the best bit........... Home now, feet up, JD and coke in hand and catching up on the fab forum
I agree with Penny, Tanya Byron was fab, meeting new and old forum friends is so good too, you lot really do feel like you are family.
Penny and I stupidly decided to walk the City Walls this morning before coming home, we got a bit lost en route but managed to do the full circle with a little shopping in the Shambles. I'm absolutely pooped but thoroughly enjoyed it all.
    And Penny, you WILL SHARE

Hi everyone!!! I'm back too! Had a great time catching up with my pals Playmate, Blueboy and Debbie26 and meeting new friends, Carol M and Penny! I got some fab resources too - lots of sensory stuff, a hexagon infinity mirror box, father christmas puppet, talking tubes and an emotions book. Also got some great ideas from the sensory workshop and popping into town on my day off tomorrow to get some inexpensive things to add to my sensory sack.

I have to say I was impressed with the new Chair - she seems very down to earth and we had a good natter with her at the reception on Friday night about our purchases! I did think the 'debate' was rather tame but loved the fact our Debbie26 won a round of applause for her comment on one of the resolutions!! Playmate and Christine E did brilliantly at their resolution and Manjay did a fine job with her speech too. I applaud you all ladies - I would love to have asked Tanya Byron a question but was too chicken!

The only downsides of the weekend were the poor food at the dinner in the evening and the drunks in the hotel my friend and I stayed in who kept us up from 4-6am this morning.

Really hoping there is a conference next year though I'm wondering with all the policy changes etc, recession whether they will knock it on the head. If they do then we MUST have a big forum meet!!!

I scrub up well do I?

Great to meet everyone again (or for the first time). My slot on stage wasn't half as scary as I expected it to be and certainly less scary than being dragged around in a deathwish conga

Have to say Tanya Byron was a fantastic speaker but what made my weekend was having my own reserved parking space in the car park!!!! Very funny!!!

    Lovely to meet you all.

I have to admit as we were trying to find a parking space when we arrived I was rather envious when I saw a certain someone had a reserved space.

I have to admit that I wasn't looking forward to the speech by Tanya Byron as I thought it might be a bit boring but it was anything but and I doubt that I will ever watch certain political people in the same way again.

I would like to know how it is possible to spend so much money on three or four items though. At least I don't have to try and explain to hubby as he encouraged me lol.

Have to agree with the comment about the food as hubby doesn't like mustard or sauce on food so he was a bit stuck but managed to scrape it off to eat but he was not happy (mind you I don't think it helped when I told him he was more fussy than the mindees)
    love Kate

haha me too. don't think i've EVER spent over £20 on a bag. I am so not an accessories person.

Me neither Juggler - so NOT me!!!

My old bag was actually at the hole stage and yes cost well under £20 - I have never spent money on myself like that before - always on others but never on myself - I don't do fashion, or regular trips to hairdresser, or make up or perfume - well or anything really that just for me.

I can't believe I actully took cash out of my very scruffy £5 purse to pay for it - especially as the money in my purse was my spending money for the weekend.

Still might be as well I brought the handbag - otherwise the money would have gone on a lovely wooden kitchen unit set for mindees that I saw at conference for £150 - I would have struggled to get it in Carol M's car - and DH would have made the usual - where is that going to live comments - at least the bag does not take up much room.

And I have to admit - having never spent money on myself or having a luxery - anything - I keep 'stroking' my bag - gosh that is even more sad that than being excited about new resources for mindees

Indeed you do Manjay - I noted several lovey outfits.

Oh - I missed that - must have been after I had hypo and was escorted to bed by a certain member of NCMA staff - still good thing I turned down Blueboys offer to see me to my room as I wobbled a lot and had to be held very close all the way to 5th floor - if it had off been Blueboy - people would have talked.

And yes Carol and I noticed that you had space reserved - very tempted to move sign
