size of play rooms

Been having a discussion with DH about play rooms (or conservatories if that is whats used) and wondered what size everyone's playroom is? (am trying to talk him into an extension of some kind )

Ours is 20 ft x 10 ft with a bit round the corner 5 ft sq. I have 3 wall mounted cool touch heaters in it to make it usable all year round.

Mine (conservatory) is 3m wide and about 2.5m deep. I would have loved it to be bigger but it just wasnt possible with the layout of the back garden and patio.

But it is a Godsend in so much as all the toys are out there and if I dont want to tidy up, I just shut the door and curtains!! But seriously, my own children are 12 and almost 10 and so we dont have toys in the front room. Obviously the LOs bring things into the front room but I can put them back out again when they go home and we dont have to look at them while we're relaxing in the evening.

I have a convector heater similar to this one in my conservatory:

It cost me about £13 from Selco (where OH works). I put it on full whack for about half an hour before we go in. Then I turn it from 1250 watts down to 750 and turn the thermostat down by half. This then keeps the room nice and warm.

The kids were out there yesterday and it was perfectly warm.

Snap, mine is about the same and same reason for size due to garden etc, my kids are 15 and 9. Lovely at the end of the day you don't have to look at toys.

Through the recent grant i've just had sliding patio metal doors changed for lovely UPVC twin doors and a window, looks lovely.

I just tell the children not to touch it!!! They are 21 mths and 2 yrs old and neither of them touch it.

I put it on at its hottest and leave the door shut for half an hour while it warms the room up. Then I turn it down when they go in there to play. I keep an eye on them all the time.

If I had put it on the wall, all the heat would just rise and so wouldnt keep the bottom half of the room warm.

It has a cut off safety function if anything is put over it ie a blanket or that.

But like I say, I supervise them most of the time so they are not left able to play with it anyway.

luckily my hubby has agreed to use our conservatory as a new playroom now it's not that big about 8ft by 8ft but nice to have it separate and the kids will love it - going to put storage boxes and ordered a new wooden play kitchen - can't wait - just got to do the moving around now.

Hiya well Im still pre-reg which is very frustrating but have turned my dining room into a play room for when im registered - its 12' x 12' and I still have the dining room table in there but saying that I would love a conservatory as even though we didnt use the dining room as a 'formal' room it would still be nice to have the option xx

hi have a seperate room i use as a playroom its 14ft by 13ft great to close door and end of day kids love it.
