    What a lovely idea!

    I would use a combination if different ideas -

    rhymes you have hand-written yourself with illustrations from the children;

    Some rebus rhymes from enchanted learning;

    Some with colouring pictures downloaded from Google images;

    Some from old nursery rhyme books you can get cheaply at car boot sales, maybe cut up and stuck onto coloured paper...

    the children can decorate a picture for the front page which you glue onto card...

    You can then hole punch and use a pretty ribbon to tie it together.

    It sounds like a lovely project. I feel inspired now!

    Involve the children as much as possible and they are more likely to respect the finished product

    I think ***** have some printable pages the children could colour in or you could leave them black and white.

    I also have a Story Sack type bag I use for nursery rhymes.

    I have put in the bag items which the children select at random which relates to a particular rhyme. Such as a toy bus for the wheels on the bus, a tiny doll for Miss Polly had a Dolly, a star for twinkle twinkle, a frog for 5 little speckled frogs or MM went the little green frog one day, a plastic duck for 5 little ducks went swimming one day, etc.

    I look out for things in the charity shop all the time to add to my bag.

    The children love the anticipation of putting their hand in and pulling somethting out to sing.

    Hope this helps.

    I did this a while ago and it went down a storm!
    The mindees had one each to take home and i did a collective one to have here and when I did each page I got a child to do an extra one for my book.
    I used different internet sites and also got pics from bus timetables etc( which was a trip out to watch the busses etc) for my Wheels on the bus page- and made a collage which was multicultutal and inc disabilities too.
    I used Something special print outs from Cbeebies to use macaton signs for row your boat.
    Some were finger printed,some had photos on etc
    You get the jist
    I laminated the pages hole punched them and used key ring rings ( doesnt make sense!!) to keep them together
    They really like lookin at the book even now

    What a fab idea!

    We have story time & a singing session after lunch everyday & the little ones love it. My 15mth old mindee claps if he wants to sing Pat-a-Cake and I'd love to have a book of rhymes & encourage him to point to the ones he wants.
