Why dont you just go with the flow for the first week and get to know the children / child

Let them get to know you too and each other if there is more than one child

Show them around - toilet etc

    Help them settle in

    Dont panic

Get some books out and some toys let them have some free play

Get to know them and know what they like and what you think they are capable of

Then work / plan it from there
