    Default What do you do.....

    Hi
I have two 1 yr olds on a thursday and they sleep at different times! One sleeps in the morning and the other after lunch. When I put the first one up to bed in the morning the other mindee sits at the bottom of the stairs, with a book and stays there until I get back! Then in the afternoon I run up and down twice with my DD and the mindee whilst the other one sits at the bottom of stairs with a book! This is the only way I can work it as I have not got enough arms to carry every one upstairs!

Do you think this is bad practice? What would you do to make it better! I suppose I could bring in a pram and stick the child in it whislt I run up and down stairs but I have not got enough space to keep the pram, especially if its raining outside!

    Thanks
    Bec x

I would go out in the morning and I think you will find they will both stay awake but take the buggy in case. Hopefully they will both sleep at the same time after lunch then

If you stay in to accomodate both you will never do anything and they won't socialise

personally i would try and get two one year olds to sleep at the same time! you need a break. try and get the morning sleeper to go down a little later each day until you are giving them both and early lunch the both going down for a sleep together.
Leaving one to sit on the bottom step is fine as long as long as you can hear them and can take the odd peep to see what they are doing! lol.

Thanks I have tried this but one leaves my setting at 2.30 so if I tire her out she will sleep over the time mum comes to collect her! We do have time to go outside and play in the garden etc so they do get out and about...i dont keep them inside all day

Oh and just to say there is a stairgate and the bedroom where they sleep is literally at the top of the stairs and they are good children as they go into travel cot, I say night night and switch monitor on then back down stairs! The children are very good at sitting with the book and dont move! I just explain that Becky is taking up so and so for a sleep and that I will be right back!

Sounds good to me! At the end of the day, you know the children you mind and know that they're safe. I tend to do pretty much the same. You can't carry two children up the stairs at the same time safely xx

all of mine sleep in the buggy in the garden or when out and about. i do have a room and travel cot upstairs but as they are happy to sleep in the buggy then this is what i do because not only does it solve the dilema of leavning the other down stairs on their own but i can then see them the whole time
