Default Pluralising names ending with an S?

    Hello,

I have a mindee called James (I am saying his name but I am not posting anything about him or his family so would assume that's OK!).

Anyway, I may be a bit dim here, but when I say for instance in his learning journal "James's story" is that how I write it? It really does not look right and I have had to pluralise his name in his daily diary a few times and I have often thought is his mum looking at that thinking I am a bit dim!!!

Is that right or is there another way to pluralise a pluralised name (lol)

i am sure that when a name ends with an s you can just leave off the second s
so james's diary reads james' diary

    am i right?

    I know what you mean

You are not the only one to do it that way though because our local nursery does it the same

I always worry about my spelling as its not the best & often think about the parents reading my diaries

I think ( i'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong ! ) that either way are correct, however, I agree James' does look better
