Question frazzled and taking time out

hi, i have been minding almost full time for 8 years and really enjoyed it. But with family commitments (a new grand daughter (our daughter and grand daughter 6mths, still living at home with us), and another daughter getting married) I need to take some time out. Am I right in thinking I can suspend my registration for 6-12 months? I don't want to give up childminding and then have to re-register later on. Any help would be welcome, thank you.

I love this forum - so much information (just sad that we need to do so much paperwork)

I think you can continue to be registered but have no children on register for either 2 or 3 years (cant remember which).
You still have to pay ofsted fees, but its worth it so you dont have to go through the registration process again. Call ofsted and they will clarify it for you

So long as you continue to pay your Ofsted fees, you can just tell them if they ring you that you are taking a short break.

They will then ask when they think you'll be working to ring you back.

If you are concerned I'd ring them for advice 08456 404040

I know a minder who did this when she was ill and as luck would have it she had only just had her inspection before she became ill and was back at work a year when she had her next inspection so it worked out well for her really no one ever knew or mythered her with any questions. She just continued payingher registration fee.
