    Default Planning Together

There doesn't seem to be a lot of planning ideas on the website - no offence to those who have added any - and as we are all planning I wondered if we could have a site sub structure that everyone puts their ideas in to?

    Are you interested?

I am happy to collate the list.

Please add your name to this and/or pm me and I can send the list out and about for ideas.

I'm always interested in new planning ideas. I think that half the time we are planning for ourselves rather than the LO's. By that I mean that the LO's are happy doing most things and are not really bothered if they've done it before (they soon let you know by their behaviour if they are not interested). It is us adults that need the variety that planning brings to stop us getting in a rut and to keep those little grey cells working. IYSWIM
Sharing planning can help put a new twist on mundane everyday activities so I think you have made a great suggestion.

Come on, I cannot be the only person out there planning and getting stuck for ideas. No idea is a bad idea and we can all help each other.

Me too Mandy, my lo's aren't interested. Little girl is only 16 months anyway and little boy wants to do his own thing and just play. He's very easily bored with anything I decide to do! Gives you a complex about your abilities as a minder doesn't it!!!!!

I was brainstorming for themes this morning and came up with 30. Some of them cross over with each other and some will run throught the year i.e "growth" through watching the children grow and through using our allotment. Below is what I came up with in my 10 minute brainstorm:
    All about me
    Art
    Song & Ryhmes
    Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
    Environment
    Farming
    Growth
    Minibeasts
Where our food comes from (links with farming and growth)
    Communication
    Mammals
    Birds
    Safety
    Seasons
    Buildings
    Books
    Favourtie things
    Weather
    Dinosaurs
    Light/dark - Day/night
    Transport
    Around the world
    People who helps us
    Colours
    Numbers
    Alphabet
    Water creatures
    Our history
    Health
    Festivals

    Thought I would share.

I'm finding planning a bit harder at the moment mainly because of childrens ages, which are 11 months, 20 months 2 aged 26 months and 3 year old who will do anything but the others don't want to know.
I am trying to do winter and chinese new year this month how far i will get i don't know.
we will look at clothes we wear in winter colour in some hats, gloves,
sticking cut out pictures of winter clothes
    look at animals that hiberate
    Story bear snores on
    Make winter picture
    Go for a walk

Chinese new year children seem to enjoy this
    Make dragon
    Mask
    lanterns
    Moon cakes
    colour flag
    make chinese zodiac wreath

I am always looking for new ideas don't know what to do next month

I don't plan for the little ones and use our routines and activities to show EYFS as they are too young and learn by playing. When they are ready I use planning.

Here are a few ideas that I got from a website for last years celebrations.

I googled chinese new year and I think it was Crayola that came up with all the "year of" signs. We printed them out, coloured then in, cut them out and then glued the current year in the middle of a paper plate and glued the balance around the edge and then hung it with a piece of string.

Great idea Debbie. I mind a 17 month old full time, and know i cant really plan much for him, but i have his 5 yr old brother after school and a 3 year old and 7 year old occasionaly. I can't do lot's of planning for them as by the time i get in and then pick the 7 yr old up, i only have about 10 mins before i have make tea. But i'd like to plan thing's for them to do in the dining room while im cooking as i can see them then.
