Default Grrr upset mindees as they know parents not at work!!!

Was supposed to have three mindees today, was surprised they all wanted me to still have them as all of the parents are either off work or college, but hey I am available to work and they are paying me BUT.
First one arrived grumpy and tired at the exact usual time 8am, as has had so many late nights but was woken early to come to me when actually could have had a lie in and come a little later.
Second one was screaming the place down as fully aware that mum, dad and two siblings all at home but they still sent to me!
Third one no show for an hour and then get a text saying will not be coming after all!!!!!
They are playing really happily together now though.
I am happy to work the hours I am paid for but feel so sorry for these little ones it must feel to them that they are being "punished" when all the rest of the family are still enjoying Christmas time off together.
Thank goodness forum back on for whinge!!!!

    That's sad for the children

Glad they've both settled down for you though. Hope the rest of the day is peaceful.

Who knows their parents may pick up early.......................

    Miffy xx

same here, except mindee is too young to know dad is at home. still at least he was collected early. Never ceases to amaze me that parents would rather send them here than have them at home, expecially at this time of year, and I did offer to have time off without pay!!!! Still, it's better for my bank balance & mindee is no trouble

    Don't understand some parents.

If I was off work I would want to spend all my time with my kids!!!

I've had the same this week and last week-and all mine dropped off/picked up at usual time.

After such a stressful day I've ordered myself a chicken kebab

Same thing happens to me sometimes, it's really frustrating, especially when you have things to do and would appreciate a a free day!!

I suppose we can't complain tho if we are getting paid

But an hour either way free would be nice. In the past I have phoned parent's work and the receptionist has said "Oh she is not in today"

    to be honest..

i don't think we should complain as after all they are paying us to provide childcare,

i am a single parent and if i had a childminder i would send my kids if i was off work if i had things to do as it's so much easier to do things without the kids and this means the time i do spend with them is just for them iykwim

as a childminder if i need a day off to do things then i will arrange it and it will be unpaid.

    sorry just my thought

As I started this thread perhaps I am taking your comments the wrong way, but I didn't say I objected to caring for the children I am paid to care for, what I did express was my concern that one poor child was woken unnecessarily early when could have woken for once in their own time and another was almost hysterical that their siblings were at home with their parents and they weren't. But that is their parents choice.
I have never worked away from the home since having my children so perhaps my viewpoint is different but if I ever have free time I devote it to my children, I carry out my day to day life whilst caring for other peoples children so always do everything with my own.

Know what you mean............. it gets me wound up when parents can go off shopping etc and we cant........
It makes me wonder sometimes why they wanted children if they dont want to spend their free time with them, they are only little for a short time.

have my son for a day and you'll gladly pay to have some peace

i suppose everyone is different and a working (out of the home) mum is "used" to being away from their kids so it probably doesn't seem odd to them

i do like to spend time with my kids (when they are being nice that is )
