I watched a very interesting one last night - there was a nursery doing this big board of observations on the children - cameras and photos everywhere, words like ludic and systemic play...
A bit ott if you ask me, but it was good to see how other settings do things I suppose
sorry lost me whats ludic

That's one of the reasons why I thought it was totally ott..!
It was about 12 minutes into this... and there was an artist 'deconstructing' children's painting

thanks i'll look this aft when baby goes home she's asleep at the mo but i know that won't last much longer
Does anyone else feel that this is all geting a bit much?
Tasha
Yup!
I think it is way over the top
I am going to be doing almost all of the things my daughter does at her nursery - she does work really hard do not get me wrong
But I wanted to be a childminder to be home based - home from home care
Not to have to compete and work like a nursery
Home from home care - I wonder then if parents will be expected to do all this one day at home with their own children???
If our service is the same as a home - only fair that parents learn it too !!! Kidding but makes you wonder if that will be next ??? Heaven forbid !

I try really hard to keep my days for the children - BTW... baby asleep and not screamed yet!!!! YAY
But then I find myself more and more in the evenings and at weekends - all the paperwork... it really does feel quite overwhelming sometimes and I get behind... BUT I've decided all I can do is my best!
... and I'm sorry but if that's not enough for Ofsted then TOUGH
Yes angel I was wondering that too about parents... think how much (says someone in govt) a child will miss if they don't go into some kind of daycare from birth... all that planning and observing they won't have had happen for them... poor things... we'll have to get all parents working, so all children have access to our wonderful curricula
I wonder if it's a kind of childcare by stealth
