Default rant and advice need!!!! Please.....

    hi all,

need a rant so please bear with me.

am really peed off now!! about 2 months a ago got a call for a 6
month old who was in nursery care needing full time care as mum was
not happy with the nusery. seemed really keen when they were here.
next afteroon got call to say yes wanted me. told them to let me
know when they needed me to start as they had to give notice to
nursery. anyway didnt here back for over a month and then they rang
to say can we do contracts k has left nurserythis week and we have
been trying to ring you. now i should have realised then what she
was going to be like but i said yes as i really could do with the
extra money. she came round 3 weeks ago to do contracts. arranged a
settling session 5 days before she was meant to start. she rang said
really sorry little one not well having tests in hospital could we
have a settling session the day she meant to start and pospone start
date for 2 weeks time. as she was going to be on holiday the 2nd week
she was here anyway. like a fool i say yes. asked for deposit she
said i bring it with me next week. guess what? she never showed
after 3 days managed to track her down up north visiting family.
rearranged settling session for this pm with start date on monday.
just had call to say the little one is still up north can she come on
monday. i said you want to just start her on monday without a
settling session , she says NO just settle in session on monday so i
said can you drop deposit in and when exactly do you want her to
start, then she tells me that she off today to hand her cv into
agencies as she does not have a job urghhhhhh..... she must have
known that last week when i spoke to her. if she doesnt show on
monday she can forget it ? what would you all do? never had
anything like this in 6 years minding. sorry so long and thanks if
    you got to the bottom.

i would See if she turns up on monday .If she didnt show i would put the pressure on her by telling her that you have had another enquiry and you need a definate start date and the deposit from her by wednesday as you can hold her place open any longer.
I would also make sure she pays in advance so that if she keeps changing her mind all the time you have atleast been paid.
    Good luck

Personally If it were me & she didn't show Monday (not that i'd hold my breath thats she's gong to!!), then i would forget it. Wouldn't ring her either. Then the next time she calls, I'd very calmly say sorry but I have decided that I am not going to take your little one one. I would say that she has messed me around far to much & that I didn't think we'd have a good working relationship together.

TBH I don't think lo will be with you- mums not going to pay childcare if she hasn't even got a job!

Sorry you have been messed about like this - some parents just arn't worth it. x

Think if it were me I'd just cut my losses here and start looking for a replacement.

Mum has messed you about and now you know she doesn't even have a job - don't expect she will turn up on Monday and even if she did I still think she will mess you around.

You have no contract and no obligation to this mum so just forget her and if she does contact you say you have had to let the place go.

Good luck - hope you fill the space soon

Spot on Miffy! This type of person is just NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. If she is messing you around like this already PRIOR to starting, imagine what a nightmare she will be when she starts bringing the kids...??

hi, have texted her (only way to get hold of her) and said basically i feel i have been very flexible and understanding, that i am a business and have bill mortage etc. if i do not receive the deposit by monday i will give the space to some else. not i have anyone lined up but she doesnt know that. i guess i will just have to wait to see what happens.

That's all you can do. The ball is in her court. If you do get another inquiry, and the places go, it is her loss.

I would not be happy taking on someone like her on though tbh Childminding is demanding enough, with long hours and so much planning etc... and deserves prompt payment, as with any job.

I agree with the rest, if this is what she is like now.

Sometime think we try to hard, and that makes them think we have only them to worry about.

I agree with what everyone else has said - you can only wait for so long! I would be inclined to leave things and if someone else needs you then if she gets back to you wanting the space say very sweetly, that you are very sorry but as she didn't appear to want to pay a deposit, she couldn't expect you to keep the space open for her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
