Volunteers

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to this, so I appologise if I am doing This wrong.

I am looking at taken on a volunteer (over 18) no pay.. Just want some extra work, for their cv in the holidays. He doesn't currently have a crb, however does have first aid. He wouldn't be left unattended with children at all. Would I need to carry out a crb before he is able to work? He is wanting to start ASAP.

He would need a crb and a paediatric first aid not just a normal first aid.
I would also get a reference from school/college/ family just so you know he is safe
