Why do nurseries always close ranks when something like this happens. Never their fault! The other day I read a thread where glass had been left on a table and the nursery knew about it. A CMs mindee cut themselves and nursery said it was CMs fault mindee got hurt

Shocking! That they were only alerted to their absence by a member of the public is even worse

The entrance only looks a step away from the road :/ how did both get out?!?! It's shocking a member of the public told them they lost some kids!!

If these were my kids they wouldn't be going back there. How could you trust them with the safety of your kids again!!

......and I think I have the answer as to why nurseries close ranks and blame everyone else.....everyone would take their kids out if parents thought something was amiss

That is shocking - I hope Ofsted will be investigating.

An outstanding forest school type nursery near where I walk my dogs just has a post and rail fencing to keep the children in the play area, I don't think members of the public could get down the bank and through the hedges to abduct anyone but I think the children could easily escape onto what is actually a working farm/livery stables!

I think the worst thing is the nursery didn't believe the hair dresser when she rang so they had obviously not even noticed the children were missing.

(Shes a great hairdresser). I know the nursery well. I took my daughter there. I lasted 5 mins. She was smacked around the face by another child. No one noticed, so we turned round and walked straight out.

I'd be interested to see what they're safe guarding policy includes or not!

That's terrible - not far from me either!! Thank goodness the children came to no harm, especially when you consider what could have happened.

Look our local paper is on the ball again. But they have reported that Ofsted and social services are involved.

Lets hope this opens all nurseries' eyes to their safeguarding responsibilities. This story could have been a lot worse if the children hadn't been spotted.

What makes it worse is the children would probably be in different rooms as most nurseries have aged rooms, so it would be 2 sets of staff
not missing the children. So glad the children were found by a caring member of the public and safe.
