    Default Facebook page

I've seen it mentioned on a few threads about people using Facebook page to advertise their childminding. I'm sorry to be dumb but I don't understand. I'm on Facebook but don't get on very much but not sure how I'd use it for advertising. The only people who see my page are my family and friends I think and they'd already know when I'm set up to be childminder so no point advertising to them. Lol. Do you have a separate Facebook account for your business to your personal one if so how's that work lol. I'm sooo dumb when it comes to social networking.

You will need to set up a business page ~ follow this link and it will take you through it step by step:

    https://www.facebook.com/advertising/

Who sees your page is controlled in your Privacy settings (the cog-looking icon).

Here are some examples that facebook give:

I've got a page and a separate profile for my business. The page can be 'liked' and shared so your family & friends can share it with their friends and so on. Gets your name out there!

I use my profile a lot - advertising on local for sale sites etc. I also use it to befriend any parents of mindees as you're not meant to have them on your personal profile (all about keeping business and personal life separate).

Hello I too have a facebook business page and in addition to my personal account. It's fab for getting your name about! Even though my parents are happy for me to use photos of their children i have opted not to. I have used some pics of my own children but they are generally only showing part of the child, the photos are aimed at the activity as rather than the children. If you want to take a look at my page look-up 'Nicola Barker Childminding'

Thank you for that. You have a great Facebook page thanks for letting me nosy. That helps me get an idea what I'd need to do. Btw I nearly put your name as my status lol as I typed it into my status update rather than the search box. I'm not right good at this lol.

Has anyone had any feed bk from ofsted abt FB pages? I have set up a secure page for my parents only and all involved have sign permission forms etc.

But wonder what ofsted would make of it? I have used the highest security opt possible

I have had gr8 response from parents seeing what we have been doing , sharing planning and newsletter documents etc- gonna ask for more comments and 'wow' moments from parents

Only been using it for less then a fortnight so still learning.
