    Default welsh cake help please

we have just made welsh cakes but I am not sure I did it right, we got the recipe of the bbc website and made the dough that was all fine then we cooked them on a hot heavy frying pan after wiping the pan with butter over a medium heat, the outside cooked lovley but the inside was sort of doughy, anyone know if they are meant to be like this or did I do somthing wrong, there were about .5cm thick

They were too thick! They need to be about 1cm or less! X

Should be fine at 1/2 cm. I some times do them thicker to cut through the middle and spread jam!! They normally firm up when they cool down. I do mine on a low heat at first then on hot to brown them both sides. Not sure if it makes any difference, just the way my gran showed me.

I had some for lunch yum!

If the heat is too high the outside will cook before the middle but as said, they cook a little more once out of the pan
