So here is some snap shots of my garden

Hopefully attached is photo of our mud kitchen. Covered area and the pirate ship. There is also 2 grass areas and 2 flower beds the toys r kept behide the pirate ship in an open shed / shelter DH and I re did this last summer to allow be accessibility

My CO has suggested so more 'print' in the garden but I just can't get the inspiration - my LO are very young still all under 2 so once they r outside they r just off doing their own thing not really stood still looking at a poster type of people

If any one has any suggestion that would be great -

I have this stapled to the shed , forgive the pic , mindee took it of the spiders web. Around it there are pictures of animals and birds they might see in the garden.

I find any self-made printed signs just get destroyed by the weather in no time and I can't afford the proper nursery signs. We have a book box in the garden. It has a mixture of fiction books and also non-fiction books related to the garden (insects, plants etc). I don't understand the necessity to cover our homes and now are gardens in printed signs. We take children out in the real world where they see print in 'real' contexts.

We bought some wooden letters and glued them to the fence. We have signs, like cooking area, insect area.
Could you add a menu to your mud kitchen?

We have (so far) a car garage area where all the cost coupe car stuff lives, and on the fence is a big garage sign, a car wash sign, a couple of posters advertising tyres and services and stuff and a string of different vehicles in.various colours, with the name of the colour written underneath. We have a chalkboard menu and sign and open/closed hanger on the mud kitchen, a big chalkboard on the fence, signs on the raised beds showing what's growing in each row with pic of veg and name underneath. Have trellis.and lines where we put theme stuff, so for example winter words and pictures with our other winter display stuff.

Next project is a reading area with log chairs and some letters or words alongside, plus books of course.

Oh, also have pics and names of native/seasonal birds, insects and animals with box of binoculars and magnifying glasses etc.

Thanks for the ideas - I like the idea of using wooden letters and simple idea of an open and closed sign for mud kitchen. I may make up an explorers box with bug/bird/flower spotting guides and binoculars n magnifiers etc at least this wont need to be on show all the time.

I have garden envy- my garden resembles a mud bath at the moment (brought the house a year ago so have not got round to sorting garden out) its tuffed but with poor drainage. But this thread has given me so inspiration for my summer project

I made an all year round seaside themed area really cheap around the sand bench and water table. Blue groundsheets (provide shelter too) swim ring etc from the £1 shop, under the sea and pebble pvc remnants from Dunelm, large number line numerals are wheely bin stickers, seaside number line ****** etc sites. The children love it and play here every day.x

I like the feet and numbers I think my LO may 'get this' more then a hopscotch - I have seen spray paint used on long grass b4 a cut so may try feet and numbers .

D'not be :
Our garden has been a v long on going project at least 8yrs and we r always adding and redoing areas. It helps having a carpenter as DH. It does look a lot better duri g the summer mnths and I love when the flowers beds are full.

I have a bit of a lawn OCD and love a freshly cut lawn I'm very picky with my edges too- I love my picket fence too, that the little girl in me- no roses round the door just lots of spider webs :-/
