Default Home educated 5 year olds and ratios

I have two children of my own, aged 4 and 2. My son is 5 in January but I know that he'll still count in my early years ratio until September 2013.

A friend has asked me to consider looking after her three children, aged 6, 5 and 2. Her son turned 5 this week and is also home educated. Would he still be counted as an under 5 until September?

The framework talks about children who are in full time school being classed as over 5 - it does not mention children who are home educated.

For this reason I would suggest you contact Ofsted and ask for their ruling.

Get it in writing in case of query in the future
