When I worked as a nanny I either used their fiat punto or toyota previa (yes majorly different in size lol!). Obviously it wasn't my car so I have no idea about the costs of running it however from a drivers point of view I really liked it. Smooth and nippy. Small - my knees rubbed the steering wheel and when I was pregnant I had to insist on only using the Previa as my bump was in the way! Boot was tiny - had to buy an umbrella fold single buggy to fit diagonal in it. However if mainly being used for a student probably not a problem. When I was a student I had a fiesta and loved it - very economical and slightly bigger than the punto. If I was to buy a first car I would chose a fiesta over a punto but thats just personal preference.
