    Default Receiving tips from parents

I pick up a 9yr old girl on an infrequent basis from our local school, she's lovely so I have no problem at all with it being an irregular thing I just invoice the parents monthly on the days they've used.

July's invoice was for £28 but the Dad gave me a cheque for £50 when he picked her up tonight as he says I do such a good job I should charge more!!

forgot my question.... what do I do tax wise? Just treat it as £50 payment or £28 payment and the rest gift?

I got a great bonus this pay day. I was over paid by £243.00! parent had paid the total rather then the total minus the voucher. I thanked the parent for the lovely bonus! It's lovely to get a bonus though I got one at xmas. x

In answer to your original question it's a gift not earnining so no you don't need to declare it. The same way as if you got money for your birthday or Christmas.
