Self Evaluation form HELP
Good Morning I am trying to fill out my SEF, for my looming OFSTED inspection but I am struggling with "How your provision is organised"? Any advice would be gratefully received

I have written some advice here
SEF Prompt List
-
Highly recommend the ebook too, made me think of things that I wouldn't have thought of, ofsted said my sef was one of the most comprehensive and well written obes she'd seen and made her job much easier and inspection quicker

I used Sarah's prompt list and bought the e-book, I also looked through other child minders reports to see what the inspectors are "picky" on and made sure I covered that in my SEF - my SEF was really long but I think the inspector had a good impression about my setting before she walked through the door, I just had to prove it through my interactions with the children. I keep positive comments from e-mails and texts and parent questionnaires and added all of them too.

Hi I am updating my SEF as been a while do I need to remove past mindees from it who are no longer in my care?
When I first started I had a nightmare one who I gave notice to I have refered to him a child a all through it. If I take him out it will look like it was almost a year from registered before having mindees.
Thanks

When talking about who I have in my care I only mention those on my books the day I am submitting my SEF.
In my general notes I might refer to something involving a previous family if it is a good example of something I do or something I have overcome.
I am sure Ofsted are not judging you on how many mindees you have or have had or when you had them- it really does not matter, as long as you maintain your registration you do not have to have mindees at all! I do not write a history of what mindees I have in my SEF anyway, it is not relevant.

Everytime I update my SEF I put the date and add what has changed etc.
So I would put
04/15 ... I care for x children, aged 2-9 yrs etc...

It took me weeks to write my sef as my own toddler took up all my free time, and also referred to some children throughout where I had to consult with parents, change how j worked to accommodate them, behavioural management partnership with parents, before I submitted it I gave notice, so went through the sef and just changed the tense so I was talking about mindees I'd cared for in the past, it's al about self reflection isn't it, so doesn't matter if things are happening currently or happened previously as long as it's an example of something or you have learned something and improved practise.
