    Default Updating SEF

This might be a silly quesion, but I submitted my first ever SEF last year just before my inspection. I want to update it as it has been a year now since I've updated anything, but just wondered how to do it.

Do I just click on my first SEF and click update or edit?

Also, when adding things do I need to put the date of when the SEF was edited?

    Thanks

Yes just click on your first SEF and amend! I've never put dates on of things that I've amended but could be a good idea - shows you are reflecting on your practice and making changes!

I always recommend that the SEF is done regularly on the home computer and uploaded into the Ofsted system when you have plenty of time to make sure you are pressing the right buttons.

It is strongly recommended that you back up your SEF on your computer NOW because Ofsted are about to mess around with them - don't risk your hard work being lost!

The SEF is changing soon... if you are due an update you might want to wait until the 3rd week in Sept to see what happens

When you update any changes etc do you have to submit to Ofsted or just when you know your are due an inspection?

The SEF is not a statutory document so you don't HAVE to submit it.

However it is strongly recommended that you do it - or some other sort of self reflection.

I update mine online every 6 months or so ... but I self evaluate at least monthly.

So do we have to do this, or is it just suggested we do it? I only registered in April and won't start childminding until September, is it best to wait a while until I've actually done some work with children? Thanks

Have a look here for info: https://online.ofsted.gov.uk/OnlineO...yGuidance.aspx

and this is the actual place to register for the Gateway:

    Government Gateway - Home

I also use my gateway code for doing online tax returns.
