    Default Seasonal Risk Assessments

    Hi everyone

I had an Ofsted inspection back in October of last year and had a comment from the inspector which has had me thinking ever since. She was looking through my risk assessment portfolio and said that there was no allowance for seasonal differences and should consider doing seasonal risk assessments. I was wondering, has anyone else done this? I do a risk check list every morning which I sign. I check smoke alarms once a week and do a yearly (if not sooner) overall assessment of the house, along with outing assessments. I am thinking, is she being a bit on the picky side here? Or should I be devising new risk assessments as a matter of urgency? All my outing and domestic assessments take into consideration changes to the environment and to be assessed at the time.

    Thanks in advance.

I have something on my garden risk assessment as we have berries in the autumn, moss on the paths in spring that sort of thing. Also have RA's for snow/ice/heatwave.

I write risk assessments for severe bad / windy weather, extreme heat... things like that.

There's a severe weather one on the parents page of my www.knutsfordchildminding.co.uk website if you want a nosey.

I also mention about appropriate clothing in outings RAs.
