    Default Risk assessment Ratings

Hi everyone how do you rate your risk assessments?
1-5 or High, Medium, Low and what do you base it on?

E.g high being risk of death?

    I don't rate RAs... I just write -

    Written by - me

    Date - written date

Who is at risk - baby, child, adult, visitor etc

hazard - what might go wrong

risk - of fall, burning, ingestion etc

Control - what I have in place to protect the person at risk

    Signed - by me

    Review date -

    Hth

    I don't rate RA's either - I don't think we need to do this!

My RA headings are similar to Sarah's.

I don't rate risk assessments either

In my opinion what does if prove? how does it keep children safe? How can you possibilbly rate every risk, for every childunder every circumstance/

    Take for example stairs

So do you need a star gate? Is it a high / med / low risk?

Well will depernd oin layout of house where children play / sleep / toilet

And the answer will be either yes need one or no don't need one.

Lets assume you do need one

Do you need to ensure in use at all times? Again high/low / med risk?

This will depend on the children attending on that day - and will change as they develop

So for crawling baby - high risk, pre school child low risk, 7 yr old with additional needs med risk and so on

So unless you rate each risk each day - they stand the risk of actually being ineffective and possibly giving the wrong information (which if used by someone who does not know the children - could be a risk in itself.

However only my opinion - and I am sure those of you who do rate risk assessments - have good reasons for doing so - as assume you would not do so unless of some benefit to you?

I don't rate my risk assessments, I just do them like Sarah.

I do know how to do the rating system, I just don't really see the point for a domestic setting.
