Children can also be guided to risk assess by sustained shared thinking with open ended questions such as what would happen? what if? why? where? what can you do?
Remember very young children still need to be supervised but without being 'held back' for fear of hurting or accidents

Each setting is different so your RA will be pertinent to your setting and cover the 'potential' risks in your home and when children are in your care.

All you need to do is write a format that is suitable to you and that you can update as often as necessary....a simple table will do

Did you have any help in doing RA when you trained to become a CM? that I am aware of that should be covered in the initial training package

Not sure how others do it ...I do a simple table with 4 columns: Risk, prevention, Action in an emergency and other actions

I risk assess all areas and have different sections
    Car journeys
    outings
    walking
    Stay and Play sessions
    Shopping
    parks and playgrounds
    Medicine such as Epipens

I also RA each room and the garden

Whenever I want to update it is easy because it is a Word doc and date any amendements

    Does that help?
