The Very Hungry Caterpillar is always a favourite. We have it as a board book and the children love to follow it while I read from the paperback version

My younger mindees always chose the picture board books and like looking through & pointing to things.

Thanks everyone - I've got most of them in paper format, need to go back and get some as board books I think! They do almost all of the sric carle books on board now, as well as lots of shirley hughes ones which have lovely illustrations.

Does anyone know of any with real photographs of things in as well as pictures?

most of the dorling kindersley ones have real pictures and if you go to the library the books about 'my family', faces, etc, will all have real pictures. Most of my books like this I got in teh library sales (when they sell off their old stock) and you can pick them up really cheaply.

Hi Jumpinjen, a few titles to add to your list:
The rainbow Fish (great book about a beautiful young fish that doesn't want to share its shiny scales until...)
Are you lost Snow Bear[/COLOR] by Piers Harper (small one about polar bear and fox playing in snow and getting lost-with soft feeling pictures)
Busy Baby's Morning by Carol Thompson (beautiful pictures)
